My First Favorite Series

By the time I was in middle school, I had read many books. I've enjoyed these books, some not so much, but nothing took my mind away to other places quite like Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. It was the first time that I can truly say that I had fallen in love with a series! I was entranced with the writing style, the characters, the rich world of magic, and the mysteries that lurked unseen. Not to mention the beautiful world that J. K. Rowling had created. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was a one-of-a-kind place, and to imagine receiving your letter and having the chance to explore the castle! Alas, I remain a Muggle, but luckily, it was the first book in a series that grew into seven books altogether. It didn't take me long to fly through the next 3 books, leaving me at Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Like many others, I was left wanting more and experienced my first anticipated wait for a book to come out. So what did I do? I reread the books, of course! There is nothing like a book that you want to reread over and over again, especially hefty books like the Harry Potter series. That is how you know you are in love with the series. Not only did this series take my mind on an amazing journey, it also inspired millions of others around the world to harness a new love and appreciation for reading. Fans came from all ages what a truly inspiring world!

Luckily for you, all of the books are published, so you don't have to squirm with anticipation. You can just pick up the books and start reading from start to finish. An even bigger bonus is the books were adapted into movies, which are all out as well! If you haven't read or seen the Harry Potter series, don't worry, we have them all at the library! Give the series a chance, you might love it too!

Harry Potter's life is miserable. His parents are dead and he's stuck with his heartless relatives, who force him to live in a tiny closet under the stairs. But his fortune changes when he receives a letter that tells him the truth about himself: he's a wizard. A mysterious visitor rescues him from his relatives and takes him to his new home, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

After a lifetime of bottling up his magical powers, Harry finally feels like a normal kid. But even within the Wizarding community, he is special. He is the boy who lived: the only person to have ever survived a killing curse inflicted by the evil Lord Voldemort, who launched a brutal takeover of the Wizarding world, only to vanish after failing to kill Harry.

Though Harry's first year at Hogwarts is the best of his life, not everything is perfect. There is a dangerous secret object hidden within the castle walls, and Harry believes it's his responsibility to prevent it from falling into evil hands. But doing so will bring him into contact with forces more terrifying than he ever could have imagined.

Full of sympathetic characters, wildly imaginative situations, and countless exciting details, the first installment in the series assembles an unforgettable magical world and sets the stage for many high-stakes adventures to come.
