Hello! We hope you enjoyed November's books and activities! For the month of December, we have selected 2 very fun books to enjoy! We are once again using:
for the book readings. The actors and actresses do such a great job, we want to share them with all of you! Along with the books, we have put together packets again to take home! We will be mass ordering a copy of one book from other libraries to rent and return. You will get to keep the other book, provided by the library! Along with one of the two books of the month, the kits will also come with activities to do and instructions. We have added a couple of new things to the kits; colorful bells, stickers, and coloring sheets. If some of the activities are too advanced for your little ones, we've provided extra fingerplays and weblinks to songs. We are doing all we can to make this enjoyable for you all! If you have any recommendations, please don't hesitate to let us know!
"Arnie the Doughnut" by Laurie Keller
“At first glance, Arnie looks like an average doughnut — round, cakey, with a hole in the middle, iced and sprinkled. He was made by one of the best bakeries in town, and admittedly his sprinkles are candy-colored. Still, a doughnut is just a doughnut, right? WRONG! Not if Arnie has anything to say about it. And, for a doughnut, he sure seems to have an awful lot to say. Can Arnie change the fate of all doughnuts — or at least have a hand in his own future? Well, you'll just have to read this funny story and find out for yourself.”
This book you will get to keep for FREE! Provided by the library!
"The Elves and the Shoemaker" by the Brothers Grimm and illustrated and retold by Jim LaMarche
“The story is a simple one, of a poor shoemaker and his wife who suddenly find they are getting help from a mysterious source. They discover their helpers are little elves, whom are working long and hard to finish making shoes. When the man and woman become rich because of the elves, they decide they must give back to the elves in return.”
This copy you will have to return to the library.
December storytime kits will be available starting Monday, November 30th!
