"Let It Fall" by Maryann Cocca-Leffler
"The leaves turn red, brown, and orange, then drift down from the trees. It is time to go apple picking and on hayrides at the county fair. Fall is finally here! With soft colored art, adorable children, and colorful outdoor scenes, LET IT FALL celebrates all the seasonal awe of autumn."

ACTION RHYMES
Way Up High In An Apple Tree
Way up high in an apple tree,
(Hold up both your hands and spread your fingers like a tree)
Five red apples smiled down at me.
(Hold up 5 fingers)
I shook that tree as hard as I could,
(Pretend to shake the tree)
Down came an apple!
(catch apple and bite it)
Mmmmm it was good!
(Rub your tummy in a circle)
Four red apples smiled down at me...
Three red apples smiled down at me...
Two red apples smiled down at me...
One red apple smiled down at me...
Way up high in that apple tree,
No more apples smiling down at me.
(Hide your hands behind your back.)
I shook that tree as hard as I could.
Down came no apples! They’re gone for good!
(Hands out to sides with “what” hands, shoulders up and down on “gone/good”)
Way up high in that apple tree,
(Hold up both your hands and spread your fingers like a tree)
No more apples left for me.
(“Sad” face and pose)
The Leaves Are Falling Down
(Tune: “The Farmer in the Dell”)
The leaves are falling down
The leaves are falling down
Red, yellow, orange, and brown
The leaves are falling down
The leaving are blowing ‘round…
Five Stuffed Scarecrows
Five stuffed scarecrows in the corn rows,
(stand straight and tall)
The first one said, “Go away crows!”
(make waving motions)
The second one said, “I am very small.”
(crouch down low)
The third one said, “I am standing tall.”
(stand on tiptoe)
The fourth one said, “On my head I wear a hat.”
(put pretend hat on head)
The fifth one said, “By my feet runs a cat.”
(run in place)
Five stuffed scarecrows in the corn rows,
Moving left and right as the autumn wind blows.
(sway & move arms left and right)
Orange Pumpkin
(Tune: “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”)
Pumpkin, pumpkin orange and round,
(stretch arms out and form a circle)
In the pumpkin patch on the ground.
(crouch down)
Once you were a seed so small,
(pretend to hold a seed)
Now you are a great orange ball!
(make huge circle with hands)
Pumpkin, pumpkin orange and round,
Rolling, rolling on the ground.
(make rolling motion with arms)
