For the month of October we have selected 2 very fun books to enjoy! We are once again using:
for the book readings. The actors and actresses do such a great job, we want to share them with all of you!
Along with the books, we have put together packets to take home. We will be mass ordering a copy of one book from other libraries to rent and return. You will get to keep the other book, provided by the library! Along with one of the two books of the month, the kits will also come with activities to do and instructions. We have added a few more things to the kits; instruments, stickers, and coloring sheets. If some of the activities are too advanced for your little ones, we've provided extra fingerplays and weblinks to songs. We are doing all we can to make this enjoyable for you all! If you have any recommendations, please don't hesitate to let us know!
"Sylvester and the Magic Pebble" by William Steig
“One rainy day, Sylvester finds a magic pebble that can make wishes come true. But when a lion frightens him on his way home, Sylvester makes a wish that brings unexpected results.”
"I Need My Monster" by Amanda Noll
“A unique monster-under-the-bed story with the perfect balance of giggles and shivers, this picture book relies on the power of humor over fear, appeals to a child’s love for creatures both alarming and absurd, and glorifies the scope of a child’s imagination. One night, when Ethan checks under his bed for his monster, Gabe, he finds a note from him instead: "Gone fishing. Back in a week." Ethan knows that without Gabe’s familiar nightly scares he doesn't stand a chance of getting to sleep, so Ethan interviews potential substitutes to see if they've got the right equipment for the job — pointy teeth, sharp claws, and a long tail — but none of them proves scary enough for Ethan. When Gabe returns sooner than expected from his fishing trip, Ethan is thrilled. It turns out that Gabe didn't enjoy fishing because the fish scared too easily.”
October storytime kits will be available starting Monday, October 4th!
