Updated: Jan 21, 2022

Hello everyone! We hope you are all excited for Snappsy the Alligator (Did Not Ask to Be in This Book!) by Julie Falatko!

Leanna and I have put together a bunch of fun activities and crafts for the little ones. Starting on Monday, January, 10th (today), the kits will be available to pick up for our online storytime.

Enjoy a borrowed copy of the book, and have fun doing the activities. Please return the book after you are done; everything else is yours to keep!

"Snappsy the Alligator" by Julie Falatko

Snappsy the alligator is trying to go about his very ordinary day when a pesky narrator steps in to spice up the story with slanderous claims. Is Snappsy making crafty plans? Is he prowling for defenseless birds and soft, fuzzy bunnies? Is Snappsy a big, mean alligator who’s obsessed with snack foods that start with the letter P? It’s no wonder Snappsy won't invite the narrator to his party!”

**You will have to return this book to the library; everything else is yours to keep!

Alligator in the Elevator

An alligator went for an elevator ride

Said the elevator operator, “Step inside”

(bounce child)

We’re gonna go to the first floor

(hold up one finger)

We’ll go up and down

(lift child up high)

We’re the only alligator elevator in town!

An alligator went for an elevator ride

Said the elevator operator, “Step inside”

(bounce child)

We’re gonna go to the second floor

(hold up two fingers)

We’ll go up and down

(lift child up high)

We’re the only alligator elevator in town!

ACTION RHYMES

Alligator, Alligator

Alligator, alligator, long and green

Alligator, alligator, teeth so mean

Snapping at a fly, snapping at a bee

Snapping at a frog, but you can’t catch me!

Alligator, alligator loves to swim

Alligator, alligator opens his mouth wide

But when he sees me on the shore,

Down in the water he’ll hide!

Teasing Mr. Alligator

Five little monkeys sitting in a tree

Teasing Mr. Alligator, “Can’t catch me!”

Along comes Mr. Alligator, quiet as can be….

SNAP!! (clap your hands together loudly)

Four little monkeys…

Three little monkeys…

Two little monkeys…

One little monkey…

Alligator Pie

Alligator pie, alligator pie.

If I don’t get some, I think I’m gonna die!

Give away the green grass.

Give away the sky.

But don’t give away my alligator pie!

Alligator stew, alligator stew.

If I don’t get some, I don’t know what I’ll do.

Give away my furry hat.

Give away my shoe.

But don’t give away my alligator stew!

Alligator soup, alligator soup

If I don’t get some, I think I’m gonna droop.

Give away my hockey stick.

Give away my hoop.

But don’t give away my alligator soup!

Five Little Alligators

One little alligator swimming in a pool;

Another comes along and now there are two.

Two little alligators swimming by a tree;

Another comes along and now there are three.

Three little alligators swimming near the shore;

Another comes along and now there are four

Four little alligators swim, splash, and dive.

Another comes along and now there are five

Five little alligators having lots of fun;

Mama calls, “It’s time for bed!” and now there are none!
