BOUNCE RHYME (bounce along with child in lap)

Have You Ever Seen A Crayon?

Have you ever seen a crayon

(gently bounce child on your lap)

A crayon, a crayon?

Have you ever seen a crayon

Go this way and that?

(rock from side to side)

Go this way and that way,

(forward and back)

And that way and this way.

(side to side)

Have you ever seen a crayon

Go this way and that?

(forward and back)

ACTION RHYMES

Twinkle, Twinkle Rainbow Star

(Tune: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star)

Twinkle, twinkle purple star,

How I wonder where you are?

Let’s go looking here and there,

Let’s go looking everywhere.

Twinkle, twinkle, purple star,

How I wonder where you are?

* Repeat, naming a different color each time.

Oh, Rainbow...

(Tune: Oh, Christmas Tree)

Oh, rainbow, oh, rainbow,

How lovely are your colors.

Oh, rainbow, oh, rainbow

How lovely are your colors.

Purple, red and orange, too,

Yellow, green and blue so true.

Oh, rainbow, oh, rainbow,

How lovely are your colors.

Find the Purple

(Tune: Do You Know the Muffin Man?)

Can you find the pur-ple,

The pur-ple, the pur-ple?

Can you find the pur-ple

The pur-ple crayon.

Repeat, naming a different color each time.

Five Little Crayons

Five little crayons, waiting in a row.

The first one said, “I’m red, you know!”

The second one said, “I’m green like a tree.”

The third one said, “I’m blue like the sea.”

The fourth one said, “I’m yellow as the sun.”

The fifth one said, “Being purple is fun!”

Five little crayons, happy as can be,

Coloring pictures with you and me!

Five Colors

Five little crayons colored a scene.

Yellow, blue, purple, red and green.

“Look,” said Yellow, “My sun is bright!”

Blue said, “Great! My river’s just right”

Purple said, “Flowers! I’ll draw

something new”

Red said, “Great, I’ll add some too!”

“Sigh,” said Green, “I’m tired of trees,

And grass and bushes and tiny leaves. I

think I’ll draw a big green cloud!”

“A big green cloud should be allowed!”

The crayons all smiled and didn’t think twice.

A big green cloud sounded rather nice!
